LAGOS

Lagos stood still on September 3 and 5, 2026, as a galaxy of political leaders, traditional rulers, captains of industry, military officers and other distinguished Nigerians converged on the city for the grand traditional and wedding ceremonies of Dr. Oghenekome Egukawhore, son of renowned Niger-Delta leader and Chairman of Dewayles Group of Companies, High Chief Dr. Emonena Victor Wayles Egukawhore (JP), FCILG.

The ceremonies, which brought together prominent personalities from across Nigeria and beyond, witnessed an extraordinary display of culture, class, love and family tradition as Dr. Oghenekome Egukawhore and his heartthrob, former Miss Stephanie Spencer, now Mrs. Stephanie Egukawhore, sealed their union in grand style.

Among the eminent personalities who graced the occasion were Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori; Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri; Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji; Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. Peter Pereotubo Akpe, PhD; and a representative of the Ondo State Governor.

Also present was former Delta State Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, as well as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, PhD.

Their presence underscored the high regard in which the Egukawhore family is held across political, business, traditional and professional circles.

The wedding also attracted serving and former senators, members of the House of Representatives, members of various State Houses of Assembly, serving and former commissioners, as well as serving and former local government council chairmen from different parts of the country.

The corporate and business community was equally well represented, with captains of industry, bank chairmen, chief executive officers, managing directors, oil and gas industry stakeholders and other leading business personalities attending the celebration.

Senior military officers, both serving and retired, also graced the occasion, while traditional rulers, royal fathers and prominent chiefs, particularly from Delta, Bayelsa and Ekiti states, added colour and prestige to the ceremonies.

The gathering provided a rare meeting point for political, business and traditional leaders, as well as families, friends, associates and well-wishers who travelled from far and near to identify with the Egukawhore family and celebrate the young couple.

The atmosphere at the ceremonies was one of excitement and jubilation, with guests treated to music, dancing, cultural displays and entertainment.

At the centre of the celebrations were the newlyweds, Dr. Oghenekome and Mrs. Stephanie Egukawhore, who radiated happiness as they welcomed their distinguished guests and celebrated the beginning of their marital journey.

For the father of the groom, High Chief Dr. Emonena Victor Wayles Egukawhore (JP), FCILG, the occasion represented a moment of immense joy and fulfilment.

As Chairman of Dewayles Group of Companies and a prominent Niger-Delta leader, High Chief Wayles Egukawhore has, over the years, cultivated relationships across political, business, professional, traditional and social circles.

Those relationships were visibly reflected in the calibre of personalities who gathered in Lagos to celebrate with his family.

High Chief Wayles Egukawhore was visibly elated throughout the celebration, with his energetic dancing steps becoming one of the memorable highlights of the occasion.

His dance drew applause and admiration from the guests, further reflecting the joy and excitement surrounding his son's wedding.

In his appreciation remarks, the High Chief expressed profound gratitude to the governors, former governor, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, serving and former senators, members of the National and State Assemblies, senior military officers, traditional rulers, captains of industry, business leaders, family members, friends and other well-wishers who honoured his invitation.

He particularly appreciated those who travelled from different parts of Nigeria and beyond to celebrate with the family and honour the union of his son and daughter-in-law.

He prayed for God's continued guidance, protection and blessings upon all those who attended the ceremonies, as they returned safely to their various destinations.

The grand celebrations have therefore become a memorable chapter in the history of the Egukawhore family, while the union of Dr. Oghenekome and Mrs. Stephanie Egukawhore marks the beginning of what many guests described as a promising and fulfilling marital journey.
