The Delta State Chapter Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Phase Three, Gen. Simple kosie, has thrown his full support behind the call for a comprehensive verification exercise to ascertain the authenticity of delegates participating in the amnesty programme and weed out fictitious names from its database.

Gen. Simple  Kosie described the proposed verification exercise as a timely, necessary and strategic step towards strengthening the integrity, credibility and effectiveness of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

According to him, a transparent and properly conducted verification exercise would help identify and eliminate fictitious and inactive names from the programme’s records, ensuring that government resources and entitlements are reserved exclusively for genuine beneficiaries.

He stressed that the exercise should not be viewed as an attempt to victimise legitimate delegates, but as a critical administrative measure designed to protect the programme from abuse, leakages and manipulation.

The Delta State chairman maintained that sanitising the database would ultimately strengthen confidence in the Presidential Amnesty Programme and enable the scheme to deliver more effectively on its mandate of human-capital development, empowerment and sustainable reintegration of Niger Delta youths.

Gen. Kosie commended the initiative, stressing that a credible database remains fundamental to the successful administration of any government intervention programme.

He further advocated a verification process that would be thorough, transparent, inclusive and technology-driven, with adequate safeguards to ensure that genuine delegates are protected while fictitious entries and other irregularities are removed.

The Delta State chairman of PAPC  said the ultimate objective should be to build a clean, reliable and verifiable database capable of supporting sound policy decisions and ensuring that every legitimate beneficiary receives the assistance and opportunities provided under the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

He therefore urged all genuine delegates in Delta State and across the Niger Delta to cooperate fully with any authorised verification exercise, describing their cooperation as essential to the success of ongoing efforts to reposition and strengthen the programme.

Gen. Kosie's endorsement adds further momentum to growing calls for the comprehensive sanitisation of the PAP database, with stakeholders increasingly advocating stronger accountability, transparency and proper identification of beneficiaries as the foundation for a more credible and sustainable amnesty programme.
