PAP Phase 3 National Chairman Lauds Ijaw Publishers Forum for Backing Otuaro, Urges United Media Campaign on Amnesty Reforms

The National Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Phase Three Delegates, Gen. Godstime Ogidigba, has commended the Ijaw Publishers Forum for what he described as its patriotic commitment to highlighting the achievements of the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dennis Otuaro, urging other media organizations, opinion leaders and stakeholders across the Niger Delta to emulate the initiative.

In a statement signed by him, Gen. Ogidigba specifically praised the leadership of the Ijaw Publishers Forum under Austin Ozobo for showcasing the reforms, programmes and developmental strides of the Amnesty Office under the stewardship of Chief Otuaro.

According to him, the decision by the forum to project the activities and achievements of the Presidential Amnesty Programme is timely and commendable, noting that it has helped to clarify misconceptions surrounding the administration and counter what he described as misinformation and propaganda circulating on social media.

He said the media engagement by the forum has provided members of the public and stakeholders with a better understanding of the vision, policies and ongoing interventions being implemented by the Amnesty Office to improve the welfare and empowerment of ex-agitators and advance sustainable peace in the Niger Delta.

Gen. Ogidigba maintained that objective reporting and factual dissemination of information remain essential to strengthening public confidence in the Presidential Amnesty Programme, adding that positive media advocacy would help showcase the programme's contributions to regional stability, human capital development and economic empowerment.

He therefore appealed to other media houses, professional bodies, community leaders, youth organizations and critical stakeholders across the Niger Delta to emulate the example set by the Ijaw Publishers Forum by giving greater visibility to the achievements and ongoing reforms of Chief Otuaro's administration.

The Phase Three Amnesty leader stressed that constructive media support would not only promote transparency but also encourage broader stakeholder participation in the programme's efforts to consolidate peace and development in the oil-rich region.

Gen. Ogidigba further called on Ijaw people and other Niger Delta ethnic nationalities to remain united in supporting credible initiatives that promote the collective interests of the region.

"It is time for us to consciously support and promote our own. United we stand; divided we fall. When we speak with one voice and project the positive achievements of our leaders and institutions, we strengthen the cause of peace, development and progress in the Niger Delta," he stated.

He expressed optimism that with sustained collaboration between the media, community leaders and stakeholders, the Presidential Amnesty Programme would continue to record greater successes in its mandate of rehabilitation, reintegration, skills acquisition and socio-economic empowerment of beneficiaries while contributing to lasting peace and stability throughout the Niger Delta.
