Delta State Govt Sets June 22 for Tribute Session as Family Unveils Funeral Programme of Late Sunday Kpikpi Kotor For Friday June 26 At Okwagbe Town

 









The Delta State Government has designated Monday, June 22, as a special Day of Tributes in honour of the late respected political icon and community leader, Hon Sunday Kpikpi Kotor, as preparations intensify for his final burial rites scheduled for Friday, June 26, 2026, in Okwagbe Town, Ughelli South Local Government Area.

The announcement formed part of the funeral programme unveiled by the Kotor family, who described the late patriarch as a man whose life was marked by service, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the development of his people.

According to the programme, the tribute session will bring together government officials, political associates, traditional rulers, community leaders, friends, and well-wishers to celebrate the life and enduring legacy of the departed elder.

Family sources disclosed that activities leading to the burial will include Christian wake services, commendation ceremonies, and cultural rites, culminating in interment at his hometown of Okwagbe on June 26.

The late Sunday Kpikpi Kotor was widely respected for his contributions to community development and his role in fostering peace and unity within the state. 

His passing has continued to attract condolences from political leaders, associates, and members of the public across Delta State.

In a statement issued on behalf of the family, relatives expressed appreciation to the Delta State Government, friends, associates, and numerous sympathizers for the overwhelming support and solidarity shown since the demise of the revered community leader. They noted that the recognition accorded to him through the state-organized tribute reflects the esteem in which he was held throughout his lifetime.

Community leaders in Okwagbe lamented the ugly incident. They prayed that there should be no such experience again in the community.They emphasized that the late Kotor's legacy of humility, wisdom, and service will remain a source of inspiration to future generations.

As the countdown to the burial begins, tributes continue to pour in from different quarters, reflecting the profound impact Sunday Kpikpi Kotor made during his lifetime and the enduring legacy he left  behind.
