PLOT TO IMPOSE NICHOLAS MUTU ON US HAS FAILED*
The desperate plot by a group of compromised and self-serving political leaders to impose Nicholas Mutu on the people of Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency has already failed. The people are wiser, more politically conscious, and no longer willing to surrender their collective future to a handful of shameless leaders acting purely out of selfish interests and personal gain.
For years, Nicholas Mutu has relied on political manipulation, influence, and carefully arranged alliances to sustain his grip on power. After spending almost three decades in the House of Representatives since 1999 and now pushing towards nearly 32 uninterrupted years in the same office, the people are asking a very simple question: what truly justifies this endless occupation of one political position? In any serious democracy, leadership is expected to evolve, new voices are encouraged to emerge, and opportunities are created for broader participation.
Instead, what the people are witnessing is an attempt by a political establishment to recycle the same leadership while suppressing credible alternatives and silencing the genuine aspirations of the grassroots.
Even more disgraceful is the conduct of certain regional leaders who have abandoned every trace of integrity and conscience in their blind support for Mutu. These are leaders who should be defending the interests of the people, yet they now move from one kingdom to another seeking endorsements outside the constituency for a candidate they claim is popular. If Nicholas Mutu truly enjoys the confidence of Bomadi and Patani people, why are these leaders running around other communities campaigning for acceptance on his behalf?
A candidate with genuine grassroots support does not require political begging tours across other constituencies. The fact that these leaders are desperately seeking validation elsewhere only exposes the weakness of Mutu’s acceptance among the people he claims to represent.
These so-called leaders have reduced themselves to agents of personal interest, prioritizing political favors and private benefits above the collective future of the constituency. Their actions clearly show that they are more interested in protecting access to power than standing for truth, fairness, and democratic principles.
The people of Bomadi/Patani are no longer intimidated by empty political threats or manipulated endorsements. The era when a few leaders could gather behind closed doors and impose candidates on the people is over. Every leader, regardless of status or influence, is entitled to only one vote and cannot dictate the political destiny of an entire constituency.
It is also important to remember that many of Nicholas Mutu’s colleagues from the 1999 House of Representatives have since advanced to become governors, senators, and respected national figures. Some have completed their public service careers and left behind visible legacies of development and leadership. Yet after almost 30 years in office, many communities within Bomadi/Patani still struggle to point to transformative achievements that reflect the length of Mutu’s stay in power.
The growing frustration among the people is therefore understandable. The constituency deserves fresh leadership, renewed ideas, and a representative who understands the urgency of development and the need to empower a new generation of leaders.
The grassroots movement and supporters across the constituency have resolved to resist every attempt to impose Nicholas Mutu through backdoor consensus arrangements designed by compromised political actors. We stand firmly in support of Rt. Hon. Basil Ganagana and all credible voices calling for fairness, openness, and democratic participation.
The APC must take the mood of the people seriously. If the party continues to encourage the dangerous politics of imposition and manipulation, it risks serious backlash from the grassroots and may ultimately undermine its own chances within the constituency.
The people are demanding only one thing: free, fair, transparent, and credible primaries where every aspirant is given an equal opportunity before the people.
Nobody will enslave Bomadi/Patani for Nicholas Mutu. The people have rejected political intimidation, rejected compromised leadership, and rejected the selfish agenda of shameless leaders who seek to trade the future of the constituency for personal gain. History will remember those who stood with the people and those who attempted to suppress the democratic will of the grassroots.
