Fresh Crisis Rocks Bomadi APC as Ward Chairmen Reject Alleged Endorsement of Nicholas Mutu
Fresh political tension has erupted within the Bomadi Local Government chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after members of the APC Ward Chairmen Forum openly rejected an alleged endorsement of Hon. Nicholas Mutu for the House of Representatives position.
The dramatic rejection came through a detailed press statement issued by the Forum and signed by its Chairman, Hon. ThankGod Johnson, alongside Secretary Prince Odubolu Cletus.
The statement accused the Bomadi APC Chairman, Mr. Perekeme Seleyeibo, of allegedly attempting to manipulate Party structures in favour of a preferred aspirant, thereby undermining internal democracy within the APC.
The Ward Chairmen alleged that the APC Bomadi LGA Chairman organized a meeting under questionable circumstances and sought to compel Ward leaders to publicly endorse Hon. Nicholas Mutu.
However, the Forum maintained that the endorsement lacked legitimacy and did not reflect the collective position of the Ward Chairmen across Bomadi LGA.
The grassroots Party leaders expressed disappointment that an official entrusted with unifying the Party would allegedly engage in actions capable of generating division, suspicion, and distrust among members.
They described the development as dangerous to Party cohesion and warned against the growing trend of political imposition within party structures.
According to the Forum, attempts to intimidate or manipulate grassroots leaders into supporting any aspirant run contrary to democratic values and threaten the credibility of the APC at the local level.
The statement further revealed that the majority of Ward Chairmen resisted the pressure allegedly mounted during the meeting and refused to be drawn into what they termed an illegitimate endorsement agenda.
The Ward leaders insisted that all aspirants must be allowed equal access to the Party structure and fair opportunities to engage with members without interference from Party officials.
Political analysts say the public disagreement may signal the beginning of a broader power struggle within the Bomadi APC as different political interests position themselves ahead of future electoral contests.
The Forum called on Party stakeholders, leaders, and supporters to remain calm and focused while disregarding the controversial endorsement claims.
Reaffirming their loyalty to the APC, the Ward Chairmen stressed that they remain committed to protecting the sanctity of the Party’s democratic process and ensuring that no individual hijacks the collective will of grassroots members for personal political ambition.
They concluded by warning that any continued attempt to impose candidates or manipulate Party structures could provoke deeper unrest within the APC in Bomadi Local Government Area.
