2027 Battle Begins as Bomadi/Patani Group Opposes Mutu’s Return to National Assembly

The race for the 2027 general elections appears to be gathering momentum in Delta State following a dramatic protest by members of the Bomadi/Patani Power Balance Advocates at the Abuja headquarters of the All Progressives Congress.

The group, made up largely of concerned youths and political stakeholders from the federal constituency, openly rejected the possibility of another tenure for longtime lawmaker Nicholas Mutu, describing his anticipated eighth-term ambition as unacceptable to many constituents.

The protesters maintained that Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency deserves a new political direction after decades of what they described as “stagnant representation.” They accused the current leadership structure within the constituency of suppressing emerging voices and limiting opportunities for younger politicians.

According to the group’s leaders, Comrade Chris Anthony and Comrade Timi Ogobiri, the protest was aimed at drawing national attention to the growing frustration among grassroots supporters who believe the constituency has not benefited proportionately from years of representation at the National Assembly.

They urged the APC national leadership to ensure openness and neutrality during the party primaries, warning that any perceived imposition of candidates could trigger voter apathy and strengthen opposition parties in the area.

The protesters further argued that sustainable democracy thrives on inclusion, leadership renewal, and accountability, emphasizing that the people of Bomadi and Patani are demanding a political transition that reflects the aspirations of the younger generation.

The group concluded by urging party leaders to act swiftly and wisely, noting that “a stitch in time saves nine.”
