Delta Bureau Chief Hails Oborevwori's 13th-Month Salary for Civil Servants, Commends Pro-Worker Reforms ...Says governor's policies reflect strong commitment to public service efficiency and welfare
The Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Mr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for approving a 13th-month salary for over 60,000 civil servants in the state, describing the gesture as a clear demonstration of the administration's commitment to workers' welfare and public service reform.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Oghenesivbe said the governor's sustained investments in human capital development, capacity building, and workers' welfare continue to strengthen the foundations for sustainable growth and effective governance in Delta State.
He noted that the administration's people-centred policies, particularly in manpower development and skills acquisition for youths and women, are contributing significantly to socio-economic advancement across the state.
The Bureau Chief also commended Governor Oborevwori for approving a salary increase of over 50 per cent for the Head of Service and Permanent Secretaries, describing the decision as a reflection of visionary and pragmatic leadership.
He added that the growing list of pro-worker policies under the Oborevwori administration had enhanced confidence in the public service and improved morale among workers.
Governor Oborevwori announced the 13th-month salary during the 2026 Public Service Week Dinner and Awards Night held in Asaba, where he reaffirmed his administration's commitment to improving workers' welfare and strengthening the efficiency of the public service.
The governor said reforms achieve greater impact when workers are adequately motivated and supported, noting that welfare-related matters always receive prompt attention due to the critical role of civil servants in governance and service delivery.
"When I see any memo concerning the welfare of civil servants, I always approve it because I know the importance of having over 60,000 workers standing with this administration," the governor said.
He further reiterated his administration's commitment to expanding access to affordable housing for workers through practical policies and strategic partnerships.
