By Wilson Macaulay
The leadership of the various ethnic nationalities under the umbrella of the Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas, HOSTCOM, Delta State Chapter, has reaffirmed its total confidence in the administration of Comrade Chief Sunday Ndidi Enujeke and High Comrade Joseph Lamienghan amid rising controversy surrounding a purported AGM Committee allegedly set up by a dissident faction.
Addressing the media through an official press statement, the ethnic nationality leaders described the purported AGM Committee reportedly constituted at the Ughelli Community Town Hall as illegal, null, void, and without any official authorization from the recognized leadership of HOSTCOM Delta State.
The ethnic nationality leaders stated unequivocally that HOSTCOM Delta State Chapter remains under the legitimate leadership of Comrade Chief Sunday Ndidi Enujeke as Chairman and High Comrade Joseph Lamienghan as Secretary, stressing that no parallel structure exists within the organization
According to the statement, the alleged AGM Committee set up at Ughelli Community Town Hall is the handiwork of certain dissident individuals led by Mr. Paul Ebiyon, whose actions can only be described as provocative, misleading, and capable of causing unnecessary division within the HOSTCOM family.
The statement accused the group of attempting to create confusion and project a false impression of leadership crisis within HOSTCOM Delta State Chapter.
In what appeared to be a strong show of solidarity and institutional loyalty, the ethnic nationality leaders unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the current leadership, applauding their commitment to the growth, peace, stability, and advancement of HOSTCOM in Delta State.
The ethnic nationality leaders noted that under the stewardship of Comrade Chief Sunday Ndidi Enujeke and High Comrade Joseph Lamienghan, HOSTCOM Delta State has continued to protect and promote the interests of host communities in the oil and gas sector.
The statement further called on members of HOSTCOM, stakeholders, and the general public to disregard any unauthorized information or activities capable of undermining the collective unity of HOSTCOM in Delta State.
They warned that the dissident group lacked the legal and constitutional authority to constitute any AGM Committee and reiterated that any future AGM process would only be conducted through the duly recognized leadership of HOSTCOM Delta State Chapter.
The leaders also disclosed that relevant security and investigative agencies had been alerted over the matter and urged the public to remain vigilant and law-abiding.
The statement was jointly signed by Mr. Andrew Agoyo for the Urhobo ethnic nationality, Mr. Kingsley Ikiere for the Ijaw ethnic nationality, Comrade Obihia Amechi for the Ika ethnic nationality, Mr. Godswill Oruru for the Itsekiri ethnic nationality, Mr. Emmanuel Omokero for the Isoko ethnic nationality, and Mr. Chris Nwose for the Ndokwa ethnic nationality
