Bomadi/Patani Youths Occupy APC Secretariat, Reject Alleged Plot to Return Mutu for 8th Term
Tension is mounting within the political landscape of Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency as aggrieved constituents under the umbrella of the Bomadi/Patani Power Balance Advocates staged a peaceful protest at the national headquarters of the All Progressives Congress in Wuse 2, Abuja, demanding an end to what they described as the “continuous recycling of leadership” in the constituency.
The protesters, mainly youths from the riverine federal constituency, accused the incumbent lawmaker, Nicholas Mutu, of holding onto power for nearly three decades without commensurate development across the constituency.
Carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, the demonstrators appealed to the national leadership of the APC to guarantee a transparent and credible primary election process ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to them, several new aspirants have already obtained nomination forms and deserve a fair opportunity to contest without intimidation or political manipulation.
The group further alleged that there were moves by powerful political interests within Delta State to impose Mutu on the people for an eighth tenure in the House of Representatives, warning that such a development could spark political backlash among dissatisfied voters.
In a jointly signed statement by Comrade Chris Anthony and Comrade Timi Ogobiri, the protesters insisted that the people of Bomadi and Patani have suffered prolonged political marginalization and deserve fresh representation capable of delivering visible democratic dividends.
They warned that ignoring the agitation for political balance could weaken grassroots support for the ruling party in the constituency ahead of the next presidential election cycle.
